About UsKempsey Shire Council is located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and is known for its genuine hospitality, pristine beaches, sub-tropical rainforests, mountain ranges, rock river gorges, sprawling farmland and peaceful villages.We are a dynamic and progressive local government authority, with responsibility for $1.1 billion worth of assets and employing over 330 dedicated employees.The OpportunityAwarded Employer of Choice in the Macleay Valley Business Awards in 2019 and 2021, we’re looking for a proactive leader to join our Water and Sewer department as the Team Leader Mechanical.Reporting to the Coordinator Water and Sewer Maintenance, the Team Leader Mechanical will lead a team of mechanical fitters to coordinate the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of Council’s Water and Sewer Mechanical infrastructure, assets and equipment to industry best practice standards.Required skills & experience To be successful for this position you will possess trade qualifications relevant to the position, including relevant certificates and accreditations (Mechanical/Engineering Trade qualifications highly regarded).You will also have demonstrated experience in supervision of staff and contractors; demonstrated ability in the design, specification, construction and installation of mechanical infrastructure associated with water, sewerage, manufacturing or process industries; demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and coordinate works in a team-based environment; intermediate Microsoft Office skills with an ability to learn key Council applications; and excellent verbal and written communication. Key accountabilities include Coordinate and develop the preventive maintenance program for water, sewer and other Kempsey Shire Council’s mechanical assets and equipment aligning with asset management best practices.Provide technical direction and support to asset owners and operators in design, installation, operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of water and sewer mechanical assets and associated equipment.Monitor, interrogate, report, provide support and optimise Council’s mechanical assets and equipment.Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical assets, equipment repair and upgrade works.Following consultation and negotiation, be available for works outside of normal working hours.
