About UsKempsey Shire Council is located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and is known for its genuine hospitality, pristine beaches, sub-tropical rainforests, mountain ranges, rock river gorges, sprawling farmland and peaceful villages.We are a dynamic and progressive local government authority, with responsibility for $1.1 billion worth of assets and employing over 330 dedicated employees.The OpportunityThis is an exciting new opportunity to join our multi-award-winning organisation as a Telemetry Electrician!Reporting to the Team Leader Telemetry, the Telemetry Electrician is responsible for participating as part of a team to carry out reactive and preventative maintenance, repair and upgrade of Council’s electrical, telemetering and SCADA assets with Council’s water, wastewater and flood warning infrastructure, monitoring accuracy, performance, and reliability of Council’s instrumentation assets.Required skills & experience To be successful in this role, you will possess Electrical trade  qualifications (Certificate III in Electrotechnology) and maintain a current NSW electrical qualified supervisors certificate; Electronics trade or Industrial Electronics and Control post trade qualifications or equivalent extensive automation experience; experience in industrial electronics and control equipment installation, maintenance, fault finding and repairs; and experience in troubleshooting and fault-finding wired and wireless communication and control networks.You will also possess physical capacity to work in an environment containing raw sewerage, confined spaces and heights; well-developed problem-solving skills and attention to detail; ability to use a smart phone and computer and their applications; and sound literacy and numeracy skills. Key accountabilities include Installation, maintenance, and repair of Council’s Telemetry, SCADA and electrical control infrastructure for Council’s water, wastewater and flood warning systems.Identify, assess and make recommendations where Telemetry, SCADA and electrical control upgrades can provide better service reliability, increased cost effectiveness and/or improved functionality.Monitor, measure, communicate and report on issues, improvement opportunities and risks.
