Join Kempsey Shire Council as an Environmental Assessment Officer and play a vital role in shaping the future of our community through sustainable development practices and expert environmental assessment advice.As an Environmental Assessment Officer, you will provide professional advice, prepare thorough environmental assessments, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve great outcomes.Key responsibilities: Advise internal customers on environmental assessment pathways and approvals under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.Conduct and coordinate internal Council Review of Environmental Factors process for Part 5 approvals under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 associated with Council development. Develop policies, procedures, templates, and standard conditions for Part 5 approvals.Liaise with state agencies to secure additional licences and/or approvals associated with Council development.Deliver internal training to staff and other stakeholders on Part 5 environmental processes.Provide expert advice on internal and external Review of Environmental Factors (REFs).Foster productive relationships with government departments, community groups, and Council staff.Prepare reports with actionable recommendations and mitigation measures.Support environmental projects and contribute to innovative work systems and processes.For a full list of the Key Accountabilities of the role, please refer to the Position Description.About You: To be successful in this position, you will bring: Relevant qualifications (E.g.
