This position is a parental leave cover contract, with an expected duration of 8 months. As the GIS Officer, you will develop, administer and support the Geospatial Information System (GIS) products and services across Council, consistent with customer requirements and agreed standards and architecture.Key Accountabilities include:Providing assistance and support for development and delivery of Council’s Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) for use and analysis.Providing training and user support for all users and administer spatial data products and services consistent with best practice guidelines, legislative and organisational / industry standards.Assisting with the management of spatial data, its acquisition, validation, storage, access, publishing and reporting for effective analysis and decision making across Council.Troubleshooting and providing innovative solutions for improvement of the GIS for ongoing systems enhancements and their effective usage by users across Council.For a full list of the Key Accountabilities of the role, please refer to the Position Description.About You: The Successful Candidate To be successful in this role, you will possess:Graduate qualifications and / or equivalent experience in GIS / spatial informationDemonstrated experience using Esri ArcGIS products in an enterprise environmentDemonstrated experience using Safe FME products for maintaining, developing and managing GIS workflows integrations with other spatial / aspatial systemsSound understanding of GIS concepts and principles in a local government or similar environment.You will also possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, be committed to the provision of quality customer service and are able to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.Benefits of working for Kempsey Shire Council: As the successful candidate, you’ll enjoy:A temporary full-time position for an 8 month period, 35 hour work weekMonthly rostered day offWeekly salary of $1,392.54 to $1,567.32 (plus 11% superannuation).A working environment focussed on wellbeing, including flexible work arrangements, rostered days off, EAP access, social club, and health and wellbeing programs.Career development and learning opportunities, access to study leave if required.A fantastic lifestyle and work life balance, on the beautiful Mid-North Coast.Interested?Please apply via Council’s website http://careers.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/.
